Background;

Henni Fisher
, the executive Director of the Alzheimer’s and Aging Resource Center of Brooklyn, Inc. is a New York Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Masters Degree from Hunter College School of  Social Work. She is a graduate of the Geriatric Education Center of Hunter Brookdale Center of Aging. She is a Board Certified Diplomatic in Clinical Social Work and has been a provider of social work services since 1975. Completed Red Cross and other Training in Critical Incident Stress Disaster.

Ms. Fisher counsels individuals and families, and leads caregiver support groups, as well as support groups for those with early stage Alzheimer’s and related disorders. She specializes in Alzheimer’s Disease, and in helping elderly couples, individuals and their adult children when there are health care problems and they need help in obtaining home care, nursing home placement, protection of assets, getting Medicaid along with necessary home care, and coordinating hospital care with outpatient care. Upon discharge from the hospital, she helps in cutting through bureaucratic tape for the elderly and their families, and provides them with essential community resources and linkages. She also troubleshoots and assists the elderly and their families with help in coping and communicating effectively so that family disagreements are minimized and necessary decisions can be better made. She specializes in work with the elderly and what she deals with is often intergenerational, involving a whole family, such as children, grandchildren and often sisters and brothers because aging issues can affect a whole family.

Ms. Fisher is a highly trained psychotherapist with an individual and group practice. She is experienced training professionals and paraprofessionals to provide of social work services and clinical matters.

Ms. Fisher is and advocate for better health care. She was a Congressional Representative to the White House Conference on Aging. She meets with our legislators, locally and in Albany, and Washington, DC to lobby in support of the interests of the community and the population she serves.
She is a member of Community Board 15.

Ms. Fisher has an extensive private psychotherapy practice
and works extensively with adult children and their aging parents, helping them to resolve the problems that occur as roles shift as heath declines change is needed.
